Background: A 2021 Triumph Street Triple 765 RS, due to long term wear and tear there is a linearity error and other problems, resulting in abnormal problems such as delayed shifting and stuttering. It’s suggested to do gear sensor initialisation.

Note: Some cases will cause failure of this function such as a mechanical failure of the gear sensor or a broken gear sensor.

Solutions:using OBDSTAR MS80 to operate on【Gear sensor initialisation】
Note:On some models, performing special functions of the engine system: Reset Gear Position Adaptation or Reset Shift Force Sensor Adaption can cause the vehicle's shift assist function to fail and the malfunction light to illuminate as shown below. When this problem occurs, the shift assist function must be activated manually by following the instructions at the end of this page.

①Select 【MOTO Diag】--【Triumph】--Latest Version to enter 【Diag】;



②Click【Auto Scan】;

③Click【ENG】;

④Click【Special Function】;

⑤Click【Agree】, follow the prompts, enter the password 123, Click【OK】;


⑥Click【Reset Shift Force Sensor Adaption】;

⑦click【OK】;

⑧click【Start】;

⑨Function execution complete;

⑩On some models, performing special functions of the engine system: Reset Gear Position Adaptation or Reset Shift Force Sensor Adaption can cause the vehicle's shift assist function to fail and the malfunction light to illuminate as shown below. When this problem occurs, Manually enable the shift assistance function.

Solutions
(1.) First, check if the shift assistance module is properly installed and connected. The module is shown in the figure below:
(2.) If the connections are normal, ride the motorcycle to perform neutral and gear position adaptation learning as follows:
(2.1) Start in 1st gear and shift up to 6th gear without using the clutch.
(2.2) Then shift back down from 6th to 1st gear.
(2.3) Pull in the clutch and shift to neutral.
(2.4) Turn off the ignition switch, then turn it back on to complete the procedure.
After these steps, check if the instrument panel fault light goes off. If so, the shift assist is reactivated. If not, consult the OEM service manual for further fixes.
