Background

Background: A 2021 TRIUMPH Tiger 850 Sport, its maintenance time is up with the instrument panel showing a “wrench” for maintenance tips. The technician set the next service time, but it showed “New expiration date that will be stored for the annual service 2015/01/05”. Maintenance tips can’t be removed due to the incorrect service time.

Causes Analysis

Causes Analysis: Based on current date, next service time period is longer than a month and shorter than a year.

The device shows “New expiration date that will be stored for the annual service 2015/01/05” adding one year based on current time. The current time is 2021/07/20，so the device should have been “New expiration date that will be stored for the annual service 2022/07/20”. Checking the device’s “Date&time”, it has incorrect date. Turning on“Automatic Date&time”, the problem got resolved. 

Solutions

Solutions: using OBDSTAR MS80 to turn on “Automatic Date&time”, then operate on 【Set distance remaining until next scheduled maintenance】, 【Set the date of the next scheduled maintenance】.

Details Steps:

①Click【Settings】, 【Date&time】；

②Turning on “Automatic Date&time”, the date will be updated automatically when internet is on;

③Connect MS80 to Motorcycle, enter into【Moto Diag】;

④Click【All】, input letters such “TR” in search bar, click【TRIUMPH】;

Tips: by searching keywords, find out related models quickly.

⑤Click the newest TRIUMPH edition;

⑥Click【Select from vehicle】,【T】,【Tiger Sport】;

⑦Click【Service system(Service Lamp Reset)】;

⑧Click【(2013-)Service function】; 

⑨Click【Special Function】;

⑩Read note, click【Agree】;

⑪Input password 123, click【Enter】;

⑫Click【Set distance remaining until next scheduled maintenance】; 

⑬Click【Enter】, follow the device's tips;

⑭Click【Down】and【UP】to set your expecting service mileage, such as 5000, click【Enter】;

⑮Operation done;

⑯Click【Set the date of the next scheduled maintenance】;

⑰Click【Enter】;

⑱Click【Enter】;

⑲Operation done;

⑳After finishing all steps above,  maintenance tips has been removed, the problem got resolved.

Summary

Maintenance tips can't be removed as the correct next service date can't be set due to the wrong current date on device. Turning on “Automatic Date&time”,  the problem will get resolved.
